L. Goffe Briggs was the 28th President of the Norwich Rotary Club, serving in the 1947-48 year.
He was the son of Lucious Briggs, the second club president, born on October 4th, 1904 in Norwich. He was the President of Edward Chappell Co., in Norwich for 20 years, retiring in the 1960s when the company closed. In addition, he was the founder of the marina on Central Wharf in Norwich. He also served as President of the Norwich Chamber of Commerce.
He married Sallie Lee, and the couple had two children, Anne Shepherd Copp, and Peter Goffe Briggs.
L. Goffe Briggs passed away in Stonington in on Feburary 5th, 1989. He is buried in Yantic Cemetary.
