Membership Minute:  Paul Gaffney and Ryan Tedford.

In Stan absence Paul and Ryan reminded members to join the Clubs Facebook page if they haven’t already done so.  On Facebook search Rotary Club of Norwich, CT * #6747 and click on Join.  Also share the page with all your Facebook friends so they can see what the club is up to and the events we offer.  There will also be a table at the Whisky, Wine and Cigar event to fill in guests on our Club and the service Rotary does.

Announcements:

The Whiskey, Wine and Cigar Event will be coming up fast and is only just a week away May 7th!  A few tickets remain!  Don’t wait and get your tickets NOW!  Get your tickets here:    https://www.eventbrite.com/e/norwich-rotarys-whiskey-wine-and-cigar-event-tickets-1228434784509?aff=erelexpmlt

Please bring spare clean egg cartons and give them to Bonnie Johnson.

If you know of a speaker for one of our meetings, please contact Kevin Wickless or Alexis Kahn to get on the schedule.

The Rotary Day of Service will happen on May 17th.  Six clubs in our area will be packing meals with each area club having at least 10 members volunteering.  The goal is 30,000 meals packed.  Location will be the Rose City Senior Center on Mahan Drive in Norwich.  Packing will take place from 9 to 11am and 11 to Noon for cleanup.  Still looking for volunteers.

If there is a Rotarian who is sick or going through a tough time let the Sunshine Committee know and contact Mary Richardson or Nancy Gentes.

Rotary Golf will be September 3rd.  Get your 4-somes together as well as sponsors!

Happy Dollars:  Rodney Green filled in for Mike Matera

Rodney said he attended the Eastern Chamber of Commerce Grant Ceremony where our club was awarded $1,000.00 to support the Coat Project.

Barry Shead reminded that the ARC Film Festival will be held on May 8th at the Woodstock Academy.  4 films will be shown and the event includes heavy Hors d’oeuvers.

Michael Vaz said on May 8th there will be a fundraiser to benefit the Thames River Community Service called “Pathways to Hope: Empowering Lives.” The event will take place at the Port & Starboard at Ocean Beach in New London.

Gary Young said he played tennis with Stan last evening.  He also reminded that May 1st is the National Day of Prayer in the United States.

Liz Cooke just returned from Tennessee visiting family!

Molly Bruno is looking forward to vacationing in Puerto Rico and is trying her best to wrap up business here, so she doesn’t have to do business from there and enjoy her time away!

Andrew Nollman reminded everyone to get your tickets for the Whiskey, Wine and Cigar Event.  The event coming up fast and only 1 week away!  Tickets are selling and there’s less than 20 tickets remaining!  Don’t wait and get your tickets NOW!  Get your tickets here:    https://www.eventbrite.com/e/norwich-rotarys-whiskey-wine-and-cigar-event-tickets-1228434784509?aff=erelexpmlt

Mandy Crispim was happy to announce that her daughter has been accepted at Mitchell College Nursing Program.  She will study to be an RN.  She is also taking a vacation week next week as her Mother-in Law is visiting the United States from Brazil for the first time.  She will be staying a couple of months!

AuctionCara Westcott

Cara auctioned a bottle of premium wine from her wine club that included a $100.00 gift card toward a case of wine.  The Bottle was festooned with daffodils as well.  After some spirted bidding Susy Hurlbert came out on top with a $21.00 bid!

LotteryRodney Green and Andrew Nollman

Rodney and Andrew worked the room selling tickets for the 50/50 and the following resulted.  Mary Richardson, Rodney and Rodney (again!) could not find the Ace of Spades.  Barry’s ARC cookies were won by Mary Richardson!

Program:  Today’s program speaker Norwich Fire Chief, Samuel Wilson unfortunately had to cancel and will be rescheduled at a later date.

President Rodney lead the club with the 4-Way Test and the meeting was adjourned at 12:50pm.
