Susy’s fellowship was reflections on Memorial Day.  Susy started by asking all Military service people and Veterans in attendance to stand and be recognized.  Susy then turned attention to today’s honoree Staff Sargent Emma Faucher who has demonstrated outstanding dedication, both in professional duties and in commitment to helping others.  Whether in uniform or in the community, her example inspires us all.  Susy closed with “As we move forward from Memorial Day, may we carry with us not only remembrance, but also resolve to live lives worthy of sacrifice, and to honor all who serve by serving others with compassion and purpose.”

Stan asked all Rotarians to continue inviting guests to our luncheon meetings and share what Rotary is all about!

Announcements:

The 21st Annual “Evening with an Author” will take place on June 6th at 6pm at the Otis Library.  This year will feature New York Times Best Selling Author’s Kelly Corrigan and George Sweetland.  Tickets are $125.00pp and include 300 copies of Marianne the Maker to be distributed to children on our community. 

Please bring spare clean egg cartons and give them to Bonnie Johnson.  

If you know of a speaker for one of our meetings, please contact Kevin Wickless or Alexis Kahn to get on the schedule.

If there is a Rotarian who is sick or going through a tough time let the Sunshine Committee know and contact Mary Richardson or Nancy Gentes.

Rotary Golf will be September 3rd.  Get your 4-somes together as well as sponsors!

Barry said he missed the unseasonable crappy weather last week as he was vacationing in the Caribbean.  If he was looking for sympathy he came to the wrong place! 

Susy Hurlbert gave $20.00 for Emma Faucher our Serviceperson of the Month.  She also took a very nice 25 mile bike ride over the Memorial Day weekend.

Pat Marshall gave to congratulate Emma on her honor.  She was also happy to have attended her grandson’s school play in Manhattan.

Steve Martin gave $20.00 to thank all active military for their service.  He also said that over 30,000 meals were packed by Rotarians in record time!  He enjoyed a basketball game the night before and is looking forward to playing golf!

Rodney Green gave $20.00 to welcome all our guests.  Last week he was happy to have attended this great-granddaughters 18th birthday party.

Mike Goldblatt gave $20.00 to welcome and thank Emma and her colleagues who were in attendance at today’s meeting.  He said he was rejected for military service because he has flat feet.  He said he drive his 1942 Cadillac in 3 Memorial Day parades over the weekend. 

Gary Young welcomed all the guests and was happy to be back from a trip to Texas.  He said he’s pooped!

Stan Lucas welcomed Emma and congratulated her on her honor and said he proudly served in the Marine Corps.

Gary auctioned off a Trivial Pursuit game with card with questions that would be answered by anyone over 60!  Lunn Quintall Hull was the high bidder at $20.00!  Rodney also auctioned off so premium coffee by Craftsman Cliff Roasters.  Clyda DiNicola was the high bidder at $50.00!

Steve Martin, Cary Trantalis and Bill Champagne could not find the Ace of Spades! 

Program:  President Rodney called upon Julia Florence and Liz Lupo to introduce today Serviceperson of the Month, Staff Sargent Emma Faucher.  Emma is Vice President of the National Guard Association of Connecticut.  Emma serves in the Connecticut Army National Guard and has a BA in Psychology & BS in Communications.  She’s also lovers fitness, traveling and networking.

President Rodney lead the club with the 4-Way Test and the meeting was adjourned at 1:00pm.
