Ray entertained us all with a dozen of funny puns to the amusement of all in attendance!

Membership Minute:  Molly Bruno encouraged all members and soon to be members to march in the Norwich St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday March 3rd.  Mike Goldblatt will lend his 1942 Caddie Convertible and members are invited to march behind and represent Rotary! 

Announcements:

Past President Susy said the board has approved the membership applications for Margarita Martins-Querido, Cary Trantalis and Cara Westcott.  Any Rotarian with an objection to these applicants should contact any member of the board with their concerns. This is the second posting of their membership.

The club is participating in this year’s Norwich St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 3rd.  Mike Goldblatt will lend his 1942 Caddie Convertible and members are invited to march behind and represent Rotary! 

The 4 Way Speech Contest will take place on April 20th.

The Whisky, Wine and Cigar event will be back again on May 1stat Bella Fiore.  Edwin Muenzner, CPA has signed on as the Food Sponsor!  Tickets will go on sale on March 1st.  $75.00 per person.

The Rotary “Day of Service” will be May 18th.  Last year over 11,000 meals were packaged for the Gemma Moran- United Way Food Center.  This year Area Rotary Clubs hope to package double that number!  Mark your calendar now to donate a few hours of your time at 3 Rivers College in Norwich.  10 Rotarians from our club are requested to help out on that day.

The Native Son/Daughter Lunch is scheduled for June 5th.  Submit a candidate and you can find an application on the Rotary website.  March 15th is the deadline for applications.

Serviceperson of the Month meeting will be on March 13th.  Make every effort to attend and honor this month’s recipient. 

Anyone with spare clean egg cartons please give them to Bonnie Johnson.

Members are encouraged to fill out a donation form and donate to the Rotary Clock Project.

If you know of a speaker for one of our meetings please contact Kevin Wickless or Alexis Kahn to get on the schedule.

ECAR will have a shredding event at their location in Franklin.  Contact Susy for details. 

June 19th will be our Rose Garden Luncheon. 

June 26th will be our Change of Command Ceremony.    

Happy Dollars: Jen Granger

Jen was happy to report that a new garage for her property has begun and framing is in place due to the mild winter weather.

Bill Champagne thanked Rotary for the grants for the Norwich Race Equity Committee.  The movie event at Lisbon Landing was a huge success.

Ryan Tedford said he had to serve as a nurse outside of his usual duties at Windham Hospital since his mother had a recent knee replacement. 

Susy Hurlbert said the grant for the Norwich Race Equity Committee was a good choice and the event at the Lisbon Landing was a great experience.  She was also relieved that recent tests on her thyroid showed no cancer!  To cap off a good week Susy reported she attended the Italian Tenor, Andrea Bocelli concert over the weekend and it was breathtaking to say the least!

Barry Shead welcomed our guests and said that the friend who nearly died he reported on last week is doing even better.  Still has a way to go, but it’s a true miracle he’s alive.

Roz Etra said there is a film premiere at The Garde Arts Center on Thursday the 29th.  Jerry Fisher of the Jewish Federation is sponsoring the film “Henny” at 7:30pm.  She thanked her Rotary Family for all the support and looks forward to becoming a member and carry on Joel’s legacy.  She also had a story of dealing with Sears to repair her refrigerator. 

Mike Goldblatt welcomed Roz and all our new Rotarians and guests.  He is slowly beating his Lyme and hopefully gets off some of the medication he’s been taking. 

Weekly Auction:  Mike Matera gave $20.00 to the auction.

Lottery:  Bonnie Johnson

Kathryn Tracey, James Hymon and Jay Waitte could not find the Ace of Spades.  Mike Goldblatt won Barry’s cookies from ARC.

ProgramEmma Sutpen from Adesa Farms was scheduled to speak, but had to reschedule due to unforeseen circumstances. 

The 4-Way Test was led by Bonnie Johnson and the meeting was adjourned at 12:45pm.
