Harold Larrabee, 11th Norwich Rotary President

Harold Larrabee was the 11th President of the Norwich Rotary Club, serving in 1930-31.

He was born November 16th, 1879 in Bath, Maine, the son of Emery and Flora (Leonard) Larrabee, and by 1900, the family had moved to Bennington, Vermont. He attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, graduating in 1902. In 1904, Larabee married the former Margaret Vanderpool.

For ten years he was the general manager of the Barre & Montpelier Light and Power Company of Vermont. He also during that time managed the Barre & Montpelier Traction Company.

Harold and Margaret moved to Norwich, when, on August 1st, 1919, he was appointed the general manager of the Eastern Connecticut Power Company. He was later Superintendent of Connecticut Light and Power.

Margaret Larrabee passed away in 1921. Mr. Larrabee remarried in 1926, marrying Mary Elizabeth Putney.

In 1935, he visited his aunt in Bath, Maine.

Harold Larrabee passed away on September 21st, 1971, at age 91.
