Lou Hazam – 1971 Norwich Native Son

lou hazamThe 1971 Norwich Native Son Lou Hazam was a television producer for over 30 years. He began with NBC in the late 1940s and retired in 1972. He was the producer of NBC’s coverage of national political conventions in 1952, 1956 and 1960, the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953, and other “hard” news stories.

Lou Hazam received four total Emmy nominations, all in Documentary Production.

Mr. Hazam was born in Norwich, Conn. He graduated from Columbia University in 1933 and went to work for the J. Walter Thompson advertising agency. About 1936, he moved to Washington as a radio writer for the Interior Department. He joined NBC in New York about 1945 and moved to Washington in the late 1940s.

In his later years, Hazam took up Oil Painting.

Lou Hazam passed away in 1983.
