Barry’s fellowship started with some Civil War history facts.  In the Battle of Gettysburg there were a total of 120 Generals on location.  9 were killed, 5 on the Confederate side and 4 on the Union side.  Barry then enlightened the club on the 10 most popular jobs 100 years ago.  10. Teacher.  9. Textile worker. 8. Carpenter.  7. Machinist.  6. Salesman.  5. Servants.  4. Retail.  3. Clerks.  2. Farm laborer.  1.  Farm owners.  Today the 10 most common jobs are 10. Janitorial.  9.  Stockers/Order Fillers.  8.  General Managers.  7.  Office Clerks.  6.  Laborers.  5.  Customer Service Reps.  4.  Registered Nurses.  3.  Cashiers.  2.  Fast Food employees.  1.  Retail sales.

Announcements:

*Susy Hurlbert had the following announcements:

*President Susy presented Past President Andrew Nollman with an etched decanter with the Rotary symbol thanking him for his past service as President.

*A thank you letter from Dr. Laudone thanking the club for his honor as Native Son.  Also, a letter was read from Martin House thanking the club for a recent donation.

*Horse Power Cigar Lounge gave the club a $200.00 check to give back a donation for the Whisky & Cigar Event that was held earlier this year.

*Rotarians are encouraged to please invite prospective members for lunch and introduce them to the world of Rotary.

*The club will be looking for speakers. Should you know of an appropriate guest speaker contact Bob Farwell or Kevin Wickless.

*September 7th will be the date for the 2022 Annual Golf Tournament.

*The Amber Alert scheduled for Saturday July 23rd has been postponed due to the hot weather.  Mike Matera reported that the printers do not function well in the extreme heat.  A new date will be selected soon.

Happy Dollars: – Andy Grant

 *Andy started things off saying he enjoyed a Pickle-ball match and Sailing over the past weekend.

*Kevin Wickless reported that his son Jackson has returned from skiing at Mt. Hood out west.  There was the most snow on the mountain in 80 years.  Jackson was able to ski with members of the US National Ski Team.  He is considering Pet Insurance for his now puppy Jasper who is already 30 pounds at 12 weeks old!  Kevin also gave accolades to Gary Young for his years of work on the Rotary Golf Tournament.

*Gary Young has Golf Tournament brochures for everyone to take and get Sponsors, Teams & Tee Sponsors.  He also reminded that the putting contest will take place after the meeting as well as auction items to bid on.

*Andy Nollman reported that he was happy to have new air conditioning units!

*Rodney Green was happy to be home from his trip to England, Scotland and France.  He took the train from London to Edinburgh where he has potatoes served 6 different ways!  He was also able to visit the 150th British Open at St. Andrews for a practice round with his brother who was celebrating his 81st birthday!  He also took the chunnel train from London to Paris.  He enjoyed a 7 course meal and said the only drawback was there was no air conditioning!  His grandson bought an engagement ring while there and saved a lot of money seeing as the euro was weaker than the US dollar for the first time in memory as well as getting a VAT rebate!

*Susy Hurlbert gave $20.00 that she was happy to get a plumber to replace her toilet at her house.  She had to leave early to meet him at Mary Richardson took over the duties of running the meeting.

*Barry Shead gave happy dollars to thank Gary Young for his efforts with the Annual Golf Tournament.

Auction:

Rodney Green auctioned off a homemade pie from Olde Tymes!  Gary Young was the high bidder at $21.00!

Weekly Rotary Trivia:  Terry Congdon will conduct on August 3rd!

Lottery: – Terry Congdon

Rodney Green, Gary Young & Mary Richardson did not find the Ace of Spades!  Bob Reed won the cookies!

Program:

No formal program was scheduled for today.  Norwich author Ken Keeley will be scheduled soon to discuss his book on the history of the Norwich Little League.

Kevin Wickless led the club with the 4-Way Test and the meeting was adjourned at 12:47 pm
